 SUMMARY

The purpose of the consultation was to gain comments that could be used to shape the development of the new community facility. Gaining ideas that would bring benefits to local people

1.  Consultations Events

Two detailed consultation events were held in November 2003 to look at:

a) Developing community facilities at the Broomwood Youth Centre and

b) The type of activities that people would like to access in the new community facility.

Approximately 100 people attended the two consultation events. There were three main aims of the consultation.

1.   To identify what the community think about the proposed community facility.

2.   To find out the type of activities the local community would like to see in the community facility.

3.    To generate local interest in developing community facilities and to work towards getting local residents actively involved in forming a working group.

2.  Community Facilities

Two options were presented to the community.

Option 1

*   Large hall primarily for youth activity but can also be used by the community at designated times.

*   Access to community facilities through separate corridors

*   Community Hall

*   Community Meeting Room

*   Shared Recreation Room

*   Refurbished Toilet and Shower Area

*   Extended Office Space

Option 2

*   Large hall primarily for youth activity but can also be used by the community at designated times

*   Access to community facilities through large hall

*     Community Hall

*   Shared Recreation Room

*    Refurbished Toilet and Shower Area

The majority of respondents preferred Option 2 but with some modifications.

These have been passed to the Architectural Section of Trafford Borough Council, who will produce a definitive option based on these suggestions.
